There is a common understanding in harmonizing strategies that focuses on one part of Water, food, energy nexus by considering its interconnections benefits, in order to fulfill the demand on water, food and energy as well as the rights of people to access water, food and energy resources.
Along the line, a common awareness is arising to its interconnections of such misuse of resources by misleading investment to serious risks such as:
1. A conflict, geopolitically as well as between state, market and people
2. Social and political instability
3. Irreparable environmental damage
4. Food and water crises
5. Land degradation and deforestation
6. Natural disasters
7. Violations on Human rights
To ensure the greatest impact of the Bonn 2011 on the Rio 20, it needs to establish the system in which all stakeholders themselves act appropriately : “as the declaration of Rio 92 made clear that states have common but differentiated responsibility” on the deterioration of Global environment. And, as the situation of the international society and economy has drastically changed, then the role of not only nations but also players such as: Civil Society, farmers (family farming), Women’s, Young people, indigenous people, elderly and NGO.
With this diversification of stakeholders, the Bonn 2011 should include their roles and recommendations within these Bonn 2011 conference recommendationsas an embedded one for the rio 20 conference and the international fora.
In order to get the greatest impact of those recommendations, it will be much better if to not ask the questions in the last 30 minutes of the 3 days meetings, that maybe it should be 2 days of the three.
However I believe that in order to ensure the greatest impact of Bonn 2011 we have to act as follow:
1. Focus on implementation
2. Helping farmers make change
3. Use participatory research, participatory extention and knowledge based approach of base practices that
sustain production and minimize the negative impact of farming activities and agriculture investment on the
environment.
4. Helping farmers to solve their primary problems by investment in the kind of agriculture that least
implication for energy and water consumption.
5. Agriculture investment policies should be consulted and developed with farmer center approaches, in order to
reduce in equalities in access to critical resources such as land and water.
6. Making education as basic for mobilizing knowledge to realize change.

The session is to present and discuss the outcomes of the conference and to identify ways of getting the message from Bonn to both the „Rio+20“ Conference and to relevant other international processes. Representatives from all three sectors will discuss the outcomes and provide guidance on how to facilitate the practical implementation. The session ends with the official closing remarks by the conference conveners.
Structure
The final Plenary Session will be co-chaired by Uschi Eid and Albert Butare. Klaus Töpfer, Executive Director, Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS), will facilitate the session. There will be introductory remarks and the presentation of the Bonn Recommendations (Bonn Opportunities for Action) by the co-chairs (approximately 5´ each), who will then introduce Klaus Töpfer, followed by keynote speeches (10´ each), held in the following order:
- Francisco Gaetani, State Secretary, Ministry for the Environment, Brazil
- Ertharin Cousin, United States Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture
- Mahmoud Mohieldin, Managing Director, The World Bank (WB)
After these inputs an Interactive Panel consisting of distinguished personalities will discuss the outcomes of the conference and gather possible next steps towards the nexus idea in politics, the private sector and society. The discussion will be facilitated by Klaus Töpfer, former Federal Minister for the Environment, with pre-determined themes to guide the panelists in their preparations.
Prof Klaus Töpfer is the founding Director and current Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) based in Potsdam. He is also the former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) based in Nairobi and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations (1998-2006). He was German Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety from 1987 to 1994 and Federal Minister for Regional Planning, Housing and Urban Development from 1994-1998. He is the Former minister for Environment and Health, Rheinland-Pfalz (1985-1987). He has since 2007 been a Professor of Environment and Sustainable Development at Tongji University, Shanghai. He is also a visiting Professor at the Frank-Loeb Institut, University of Landau. He received his PhD in Regional development and location decision from the University of Münster in 1968.
Finally, Gudrun Kopp, Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), will provide closing remarks.
